City View, WC Smith’s newest affordable housing development, received a Best Real Estate Deal award for project delivery.
The May 2019 signing of the lease to bring Lidl, the German-based supermarket chain, as an anchor tenant at Skyland Town Center received a Best Real Estate Deal citation, and earned additional honors as the Perseverance Award recipient. Rappaport, our retail partner, accepted the award on behalf of the Skyland development team. Skyland Town Center is an 18.5 acre mixed used development located at the intersection of Alabama Avenue, Naylor Road and Good Hope Road SE.
When it opens, the 29,000 square foot Skyland store will be Lidl’s first venue in DC and the first major full-service supermarket to enter Wards 7 and 8 in more than a decade. Lidl is known for offering customers a uniquely diverse product mix of traditional grocery fare and household items.
City View Apartments is a 58-unit development adjacent to Sheridan Station. Certified LEED Gold, the building has an Energy Star roof, Energy Star windows, and energy efficient individual HVAC and hot water heaters. Kitchens feature stainless steel Energy Star appliances, including dishwashers and microwaves. Every unit has an individual washer and dryer. The site enjoys panoramic views of the Washington skyline.
Completed in December 2019, City View is fully leased.
“We are proud that the Washington Business Journal awarded City View and Lidl, as they join an impressive list of deals honored last night,” said Chris Smith, Chairman and CEO of WC Smith. “What makes this recognition even more rewarding is that both deals took place east of the river in Washington, and are testament to the vibrancy of and our commitment to these communities.”
