WC Smith Joins Building Bridges Across the River for the 2024 Spring Fling

WC Smith joined with several nonprofit organizations and vendors to support the 2024 Spring Fling, the annual spring festival sponsored by Building Bridges Across the River.

The event, held April 6 at THEARC campus, attracted more than 500 people – the majority of them under age 18

The day featured food, live music performed by Ellington Cathan and Trio, a moon bounce, and the highlight of the day – an egg hunt for kids along Oxon Creek. In fact, nearly 2,000 eggs were hidden in the woods behind the campus – and all of them were found.

Several of the THEARC’s nonprofit partners participated in Spring Fling, including the Washington School for Girls, Boys and Girls Club, ArtReach, Trinity University, and the Phillips Collection, which offered arts and crafts activities and face painting.

Staff from the Skyland Workforce Center, a program of Building Bridges, talked about the trainings and hiring fairs it offers.

The Institute for Justice, whose team volunteered, brought goodie bags and information about various scholarship programs available to the community. Howard University brought a mobile health unit, staffed with medical professionals providing health information to attendees.
