A new Dunkin, offering Dunkin Donuts, Baskin Robbins ice cream and other menu items, will open as a stand-alone restaurant at the Shops at Park Village.
It will be the only Dunkin to operate in DC neighborhoods east of the Anacostia River.
Featuring a drive-thru option, the 1,600 square foot store will be located at 1541 Alabama Avenue SE and is projected to create more than 20 new jobs.
BMD Alabama, LLC, a Washington, DC-based restaurant franchisee, will operate the Dunkin and manage construction of the building. WC Smith will manage land development for the site.
Land development work is slated to begin in early May, with the store projected to open in late 2024.
WC Smith’s history with the Shops at Park Village dates to the early 1990s, when the company rehabilitated an existing shopping center at the location. Nearly 10 years later, the company undertook a complete reincarnation of the shopping center, as it acquired and revamped the former Camp Simms National Guard site. In 2007, the company brought a Giant grocery store to the Shops, the first full-service supermarket to open in Ward 8.
More recent additions included two banks, an IHOP (which was the first site-down restaurant to open in the ward in 30 years), a Chipotle restaurant, and other retailers.
