The Crest at Skyland Town Center was a winner of a CoStar Impact Award, being named Best New Multifamily Development in the DC market by CoStar Group.
The Impact Awards are CoStar’s first annual awards program designed to recognize exemplary commercial real estate transactions and projects completed in 2021 with significant influence in neighborhoods or submarkets across 11 major U.S. markets.
CoStar is a provider of online real estate marketplaces, information, and analytics in the commercial and residential property markets.
The Crest’s residents represent a range of income, employment geographic diversity, blended into a cohesive community. Unit types and finishes are indistinguishable across income types. One-third of Crest residents lived in Wards 7 and 8 before moving the property. People found in The Crest an attractive and comfortable new living option that allowed them to stay close to home and maintain family and community ties.
Teachers represent the largest single employment group among our residents, including one who moved to The Crest from outside of the area and teaches in Ward 7. Five percent of residents are employed by the military or the DC Metropolitan Police Department.
In its announcement about the award, CoStar noted that “Skyland Town Center is a story of perseverance and the commitment necessary to develop high-end commercial projects in a poorer part of the city that has failed to see the same type of engagement evident in almost every other part of Washington.”
