Skyland Town Center played host to a Community HIV Screening Day Dec. 1, in commemoration of World AIDS Day.
The event was organized by the Washington, DC, chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, which partnered with Whitman-Walker Clinic and Black Nurses Rock (DC chapter) to provide free HIV testing and other services to neighborhood residents. Information was also available about diabetes and diabetes screening.
Other participating groups included the Hillcrest Children and Family Center, DC Health Link, The Women’s Collective, US Court Services and the ONE Campaign.
Skyland retail tenants also joined – PNC Bank was there to offer information about its banking services, and &Pizza offered $2 off its pizzas and use of its restrooms for event participants.
Skyland Town Center is a mixed-use development located at the intersection of Alabama Avenue, Naylor Road, and Good Hope Road SE in Washington’s Ward 7. Rappaport and WC Smith, lead the retail and residential leasing and strategy, respectively.
