Bellevue's origins can be traced back to the earliest land patents in Maryland, with its name derived from a magnificent mansion constructed in 1795. While initial subdivisions emerged in the 1870s, significant residential development didn't take place until the early 1940s. Additionally, Bellevue finds itself in close proximity to various federal and city agency buildings, further adding to its notable location. Presently, Bellevue and its surrounding areas predominantly consist of residential areas. Notably, the neighborhood boasts picturesque and historically significant parks, including Shepherd Parkway, Oxon Run Park, and Fort Greble Park.
