We are excited to kick off the celebration of 50 years of WC Smith.
Founded in July 1968, with just three offices and two employees, WC Smith has grown to over six hundred employees at multiple locations. We are proud of the progress that the company has made.
A lot has changed in 50 years, from our modes of transportation to the methods we use to communicate. What hasn’t changed is our commitment to DC, the residents who call our properties home, and the family of WC Smith employees we work alongside every day.
WC Smith could never have become the company that it is today without the commitment and hard work of so many people. We want to take this opportunity to say thank you to the staff, both current and previous employees, for their contributions.
And we also want to say thank you to the residents of WC Smith properties, who make our communities great places to live.
And finally, we want to thank the many people who have supported WC Smith along the way – vendors, investors, partners — who have shared our vision, and of course our families and friends who have helped our work and the company.
In 2018 and beyond, we are looking forward to improving our services and providing new high-quality places for people to live and work. We have just upgraded our property management systems, and we expect to have better data about our buildings that we can use to improve our services to residents. We have several new developments underway, including Avec on H Street and the Skyland Town Center, which will contribute to the surrounding communities.
With all the changes that are coming our way, our core values and founding principles remain unchanged: providing high-quality apartments, treating people with respect, and focusing on the District of Columbia. We look forward to building on the strength of the company and continuing to create and maintain outstanding communities.
