You won’t find a more homelike building and community at this price point in Washington DC ❤️ It’s also super pet friendly with no pet fee/pet rent, management is super responsive on maintenance requests, and did I mention I love the community and Sharon and Jose do their very best to foster it? Had to leave because of a work move but I’m going to miss this building so much!
Absolutely loved living here. Building is great, full of really nice people. Sharon, building manager, is SO HELPFUL with anything / everything. Jose, maintenance guy, is awesome and really nice. Anything that needs fixing gets taken care of really fast. Was there during Covid, was great the building did everything it could to keep people safe. Great place for dogs. Great neighborhood.
The Shawmut has been a fantastic first (and now, second!) apartment experience. The location is excellent - near the hustle and bustle of Adams Morgan, but quiet and residential - and the building has a unique, historic flavor like many others in this area. Despite its age, the apartments are in excellent condition, with warm wood floors, modern window installations, and up-to-date kitchen countertops and appliances. If you seek friendly neighbors (most of whom have even friendlier dogs!), easy access to popular areas of northwest DC, and a spacious apartment with lots of character, The Shawmut is right for you.
I have enjoyed living at the Shawmut in two different units since 2015. The floor plans are very spacious with large closets, nice hardwood floors, and newer appliances in some units. The property manager, staff, and neighbors are very friendly, and they make this dog-friendly community feel like home. If you are prioritizing the charms of a pre-war building, personal space in unit, and a sense of community, then I highly recommend living in this building, as well as the greater Adams Morgan community.
This is a very nice community and a well run building. The staff is attentive and expedient. The other members of the community are friendly and it is a nice place to live. The pets are welcomed and it is nice to know others with animals.
