WC Smith Acquires The Albemarle

WC Smith has acquired The Albemarle, a 234-unit property at 4501 Connecticut Ave. NW.

Built in 1959, The Albemarle features a mix of studios, 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom apartments. It sits on the same block as two other WCS-managed buildings: The Frontenac and Clarence House.

The company last year was approached by the attorney representing the Albemarle Tenants Association, which was seeking input from groups that might be interested in joining in a partnership to acquire the property through TOPA.

After several meetings with the Association’s Board of Directors and Albemarle’s residents, the Tenants Association voted overwhelmingly to accept our proposal to purchase the property.

Sarah Glass will be the property manager at The Albemarle. Sarah had been the property manager at WC Smith property Avec since 2021; she joined the company in 2017 as a leasing consultant at 2M Street.
