Skyland Town Center was honored at the 2026 “March Madness,” making the “Elite 8” of transformative private-public projects.
Sponsored by the Office of Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED), March Madness is DC’s annual business showcase of new real estate, housing and workforce support initiatives.
This year, DMPED recognized a notable project from each of the city’s 8 wards that projects that delivered during Mayor Muriel Bowser’s tenure. Skyland was selected to represent Ward 7.
The mayor has been a visible supporter of Skyland, having made 7 official visits to the mixed-used development. Most recently, she toured the model townhomes that are being built by Ryan Homes as part of the final leg, Phase 3, of the project. When completed, Phase 3 will deliver 126 for-sale townhomes, 24 for-sale condos and a public park (which is slated to open this spring).
These homeownership opportunities will join the 263-unit Crest and multiple retailers, including the city’s first Lidl grocery store and its first drive-through Starbucks.
The other projects that made the Elite 8 are:
- Ward1: The Faircliff/NOVEL 14th Street
- Ward 2: Station U & O
- Ward 3: Lisner-Louise-Dickson-Hurt Home/The Louise on Western
- Ward 4: The Parks at Walter Reed
- Ward 5: Reservoir District
- Ward 6: The Wharf
- Ward 8: St. Elizabeth’s East
Skyland Town Center is a joint development project of WC Smith, Rappaport, Skyland DC, Washington East Foundation, and Marshall Heights Community Development Organization.
